These unique Limited Edition timepieces that Governor Schwarzenegger has designed are now available to the collector. A total of only 500 of these timepieces were made to commemorate the completion of the Governors two terms in office. Many of of these watches were given as gifts or sold at charity auction, and now the watches that remain will be sold to a select few.
Included with each watch will be this letter from Governor Schwarzenegger, telling the unusual story of these valuable timepieces.
THE A S M47-331 TANK WATCH BY: ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER
I am pleased to present to you in commemoration of my two terms as the 38th Governor of California, this unique watch that I designed and had custom made with precision to my specifications by expert watchmakers.
Following World War II and under the Peace Treaty, America gave several hundred US Military Tanks to Austria. When I was a tank driver in the Austrian Army from 1965 to 1966, I was fortunate to drive one of those Tanks. In 1992, I located and brought to the United States the actual USA made M47 Tank that I drove. The tank was buried underground with the turret only sticking out of the ground when it was discovered on the Austrian-Hungarian border.
After looking at the instrument gauges on the control panel of my tank, I became motivated to use the look of those gauges as a model for this watch. My vision became a reality in 2010. The Tank Watch reflects a thought thru design, featuring an industrial outlook, powerful band and buckle. The Red and White logo featured on one version of the watch is the Austrian Army symbol that appears on my tanks turret.
The number 331, which is engraved on the stainless steel case, buckle, printed on each dial face and genuine leather watch band, is the actual serial number for my Tank. Each watch is machined from a solid block of stainless steel and fitted with a Sapphire Crystal which is a most durable and scratch resistant material. The watch movement installed is one of the most powerful battery-operated watch movements made, which was required to move the large hands.
The Tank Watch is battery operated. A watch maker can replace the battery by removing the four small screws from the back of the watch- not the four large decorative screws on the front of the watch.
Even though the watch maker says that the watch is water resistant, I recommend that you remove the watch when you shower, swim or take a Jacuzzi.
